District 3 History
The California State Old Time Fiddler’s Association (CSOTFA) was created in 1969 as a nonprofit organization to promote and preserve old time fiddling as part of our country’s heritage. Over the years 12 Districts have been formed throughout the state.
District 3 was established in 1972 and includes the counties of Kern, Inyo and
Members of District 3 also have a strong tradition of playing for many different community events in numerous venues. Since 2002, they have fiddled every year in City Park for the Fourth of July Pancake Breakfast. For the past five years, they have entertained shoppers in Albertson's during the Christmas season. They have also played for Farmer's Markets, serenaded hospice residents at Tehachapi Hospital, and fiddled at Tehachapi Performing Arts Center's Back Street Gallery during the monthly First Friday Art Walks.
Climaxing the year is “Fiddlin’ Down the Tracks”, our September Fiddle contest. This is the only annual certified fiddling contest held in
