Howdy Forrester Memorial Scholarship

In 2007, concomitant with the publication of the definitive work on Howdy Forrester:  Fiddler of the Opry--the Howdy Forrester Story, District 3 decided to provide an annual scholarship in Howdy's memory--$1000 and a plaque to the college-bound fiddler in California who most exhibited the spirit of Big Howdy Forrester.

The scholarship is funded by the District and Howdy's son, Bob Forrester, and is presented by the District's President at the annual Fiddlin' Down the Tracks Old Time Fiddle Contest held annually in September.

In addition to the individual prize, the winner's name is placed on a perpetual plaque, which will ultimately be displayed in the Old Time Fiddle Museum in the new Performing Arts Center that will be built here.
